The fruit for the 2016 Silenus Dry Riesling comes from the Carneros region starting in the Southern portion of the Napa Valley. Riesling buds late, is mid- to late-ripening, and does best in cool climates like Carneros, where grapes ripen slowly and develop deep aromatic character. Riesling is capable of making wines of great longevity, thanks in part to its high acidity. Aged versions typically develop hints of petrol aromas.

The Silenus Riesling was harvested at peak ripeness in the early hours of the morning. The fruit was then gently whole- cluster pressed to a settling tank. After settling for two days, the juice was moved to small stainless-steel tanks for a long, cold fermentation.

Tasting Notes:

This wine has a deep straw yellow color with intense aromas of perfectly ripened yellow peaches and apricots. Graceful on the palate, this wine is accompanied by flavors of freshly cut pineapple and delicate but lingering notes of orange blossom on the finish. Our Thyrsus Dry Riesling makes a perfect pair with spicy Thai dishes.
