This is an extremely small production wine made from 100% estate grown fruit from a vineyard that is located between Dry Creek and our Barrel Room. The vineyard is warm during the day but cools down significantly at night, perfect for this varietal.

This vineyard’s location and terroir imparts classic Cabernet Franc aromas of violet and perfume along with underlying peppery and herbal flavors. These are complemented by the ripe red fruit flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, small amounts of both used for blending. The wine was aged in 50% new French oak barrels for 22 months. This bottling is designed to present Cabernet Franc in its own intriguing glory.

Tasting Notes:

The nose is complex with aromas of anise, spearmint, cedar and ripe berries. On the palate the wine leads with bright red fruit flavors of cherry, blackberry and plum all of which are underscored by dark chocolate and toasted oak. The finish is lush with ripe red plum and berry and lingering notes of dark chocolate.

This Cabernet Franc is extremely food friendly and pairs well with glazed rack of lamb or thick pork chops.
